Description:At Pallet Shelter PBC, we recognize the importance of your role as a Modular Architect and how it affects the success of the organization and our team members. Your work in this area has a profound impact on our short, medium, and long-term success. The following is a list of expectations and disciplines you will be engaged in and perform daily.Position OverviewThe Modular Architect is a subject matter expert, responsible for product design, code compliance, assistance with production problems and system/design improvements. Your efforts will be focused on the design of modular shelters/products for cost effective production, with cutting edge material, construction techniques, methods and technologies. Maintain close daily contact with Structural Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical consultants and support staff as needed to ensure overall product effectiveness and code compliance. This position will use the latest in material science, manufacturing/construction methods, code and regulatory knowledge along with CAD modeling, development of Bills of Material (BOM's) through design and release of innovative products using our NPI process. This role reports to the VP of Operations. In the first three months you will:Learn existing production methods, materials and gain understanding of how resources are currently utilized (i.e., personnel, equipment, etc.)Be available to get to know people, build relationships and have fun!Work with our new product development team to develop new product designs, new materials and new product development goalsDesign product using AutoCad Inventor or RevitLearn our NPI (New Product Introduction) processMaintain improvements through sustaining behaviors, operating with discipline and rigorSupport departmental goals - for new product developmentAccurately complete and/or ensure completion of all documentation and data analysis in a timely mannerFollow and enforce all safety requirements for this position and all company safety guidelinesPerforms other duties and responsibilities as assignedAfter three months you will be able to do everything, you have learned so far and:Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Configuration Management during the New Product Introduction process as a new design moves toward manufacturing readinessBecome knowledgeable in continuous improvement methodologiesAssist in the development and take ownership of assuring code and regulatory compliance of new product designsIdentify innovative materials, designs and methods to improve the time it takes set up and take down products for use at their next site location.Ongoing you will need to do everything above and:Take the lead in establishing best practices throughout the design and testing processActively pursue growth and knowledge in your ability to understand continuous improvement methodologies (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma etc.)Help improve, develop and implement best practices for rapid product design In the future you will have a chance to:Gain experience with process developmentLead work on projects and mentor othersPotential to become certified in Lean Six SigmaRequirements:To do well in this role you need to have the following characteristics:You can tolerate a work environment that at times contains multiple distractions and ambiguityYou are hungry, always wanting to learn more and put in the extra effort to achieve the goalsYou are people smart, knowing how to work effectively with diverse groups of people and personalitiesYou are honest, transparent and show integrity in your words and actionsYou promote team building in a team environmentYou are thoroughly committed to Pallet's missionYou are humble, willing to admit your shortcomings and are teachableEducation and Experience: RequiredBachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalentKnowledge and understanding of the latest IBC regulationsMinimum Experience: 2+ years-experience in a modular manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of safety, quality, production, and maintenance managementOutstanding written and verbal communication and problem-solving skillsCommunication - Clearly conveys information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the messageContributing to Team Success - Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goalsCustomer Focus - Ensuring that the customer perspective is a driving force behind business decisions and activities;
