Job Description:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible
fordecontamination, assembly of linen packs, operation of steam,
ETO and otherforms of sterilization. The Sterile Processing
Technician maintains adequateinventory for assembly of instruments
and equipment and performs multiple tasksthat assist in the daily
operation of all units as well as being responsiblefor customer
service.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Extensive knowledge
regarding processes used in thedecontamination, inspection,
cleaning, assembling and packaging ofmedical/surgical material to
include, but not limited to, linen, instrumentsand equipment
according to established standards and procedures to ensure a
sterileand functioning supply of materialsPrepares trays for
designated areas according to prescribedproceduresWraps and/or
packages items for specified areas according toprocedures
prescribed for designated areasMust be able to operate bar code
instrument tracking systemWorks with operating room personnel to
ensure specialtytrays are handled in the prescribed
mannerDissembles, cleans, assembles and tests
specialtyinstrumentation and equipment for proper functioningMust
be able to differentiate between single-use andreusable
itemsMaintains inventory of supplies and materials to
includedocumenting usage, issuing, receiving and reordering as
assignedAdheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies
andproceduresPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum
Requirements:High School Diploma or Equivalent?Certification as
required by state regulations or
contractspecifications?Certification for sterile processing
technicians by theInternational Association of Healthcare Central
Service Materiel Management(IAHCSMM) or the Certification Board for
Sterile Processing and Distribution(CBSPD) may be requiredOne (1)
year of experience in sterile processing preferred?Complies with
all relevant professional standards ofpracticeParticipation and
completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicableCurrent CPR
if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if
applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or
stateregulation)Must meet all federal, state and local
requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as
applicable tojob siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and
HIPAArequirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information
to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to,
supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills;
proficiency in theEnglish language is requiredComputer proficiency
