Discovery & Translational Sciences, Vaccine Development &
Surveillance, Integrated Development (IDev), and Innovation
Introduction.Integrated DevelopmentThe Integrated Development
(IDev) team is a cross-functional team that supports Foundation
Program Strategy Teams (PSTs) by providing technical expertise in
the following areas: Quantitative Sciences (QuantSci), Regulatory
Affairs (RA), Design, Analyze, Communicate (DAC), Chemistry,
Manufacturing and Controls (CMC). IDev plays a critical role in
advancing the foundations portfolio of products and building up the
broader global health ecosystem.Your Role The Gates Foundation
seeks a Senior Program Officer (SPO) in Pharmacometrics to join the
Quantitative Sciences (QuantSci) team within the Integrated
Development (IDev) Group. You will lead global initiatives to
develop and apply advanced pharmacometric methods-including
AI-driven modeling and simulation-to optimize drug development for
diverse populations, particularly in low- and middle-income
countries (LMICs). By advancing Model Informed Drug Development
(MIDD), you will enhance drug efficacy, streamline clinical trials,
and accelerate access to new therapies. Your role will be
instrumental in ensuring that these innovative treatments reach
those who need them most, addressing unique health challenges with
efficiency and impact. Collaborating with leading experts, you'll
drive solutions that make a tangible difference in global
health.What You'll Do
- Strategic Leadership: Define the strategic vision for
pharmacometrics, aligning with global health objectives, and lead
initiatives integrating pharmacometric approaches into MIDD
programs for LMICs.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) Management: Foster and oversee a
diverse network of SMEs, coordinating their contributions to
Foundation-led projects and managing associated contracts to drive
the success of these initiatives.
- Grant Making and Management: Oversee a portfolio of grants by
identifying funding opportunities, crafting proposals, establishing
success metrics, and ensuring initiatives deliver measurable and
sustainable health improvements.
- Driver of Innovation: Lead the adoption of emerging trends and
technologies in pharmacometrics-including AI/ML applications-and
promote open-source tools to accelerate drug development and
research, particularly in LMICs.
- Partnership Building: Forge and maintain robust relationships
with global health partners, including international health
agencies, non-profits, academic institutions, and private sector
entities.
- Consultation and Support: Provide critical consultation and
thought partnership to Foundation partners and external
collaborators to advance drug development initiatives, ensuring
successful implementation of grants and technical innovations.
- Communication and Advocacy: Represent the Foundation at
scientific and policy forums, advocating for the integration of
pharmacometrics in global health strategies and engaging
stakeholders to communicate its value.Your Experience
- Advanced degree (Master's, PhD, PharmD, MD) in pharmacometrics,
pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry or related
field, focusing on the application of pharmacometrics and/or
systems pharmacology to drug development.
- Technical MIDD and Quantitative Background: Significant
experience applying pharmacometric analyses to inform
decision-making in drug development, particularly in LMICs.
- Regulatory Expertise in Pharmacometrics: Proven experience
collaborating with regulatory bodies on pharmacometric analyses in
submissions, using modeling to support regulatory decisions.
- Leadership Excellence: Extensive leadership experience in
quantitative analysis supporting medical product development, with
a proven ability to build and inspire collaborative
relationships.
- Communication and Advocacy: Exceptional ability to convey
complex technical information to diverse audiences, build
consensus, and drive strategic decisions with senior stakeholders
across sectors.Other Attributes
- Open-Source and AI Experience: Experience contributing to
open-source projects and familiarity with AI/ML technologies is
highly desirable.*Must be able to legally work in the country where
this position is located without visa sponsorship.The salary range
for this role is $229,100 to $355,200 USD. We recognize high-wage
market differences in Seattle and Washington D.C., where our
offices are located. The range for this role in these locations is
$249,600 to $386,900 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we
strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires
salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary
range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a
candidate's job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as
